I was craving for a tool that was ultra transportable and capable of handling basic computing tasks like essays, shows, and spreadsheets. The ASUS Eee laptop 1001PXD-MU17-BU has met those expectations. My daughter uses it each week to support her faculty work, and she or he very likes the 8+ hours of battery life.

I have loaded the standard software as well as Open workplace and an upgrade to Windows seven Home Premium. The netbook has handled everything with ease. as long as it is a netbook, we've got to simply accept that we're not planning to do intensive video editing or gaming on this machine. However, we tend to downloaded and played video from my daughter's camcorder while not a retardant.

The only upgrade I've done is to extend the RAM from 1GB to 2GB. That was driven primarily as a result of I saw RAM on sale at Amazon and could not ""resist"" shopping for the additional RAM.

The only negative is that the speakers are atiny low degree|somewhat|slightly|alittle} ""tinny"" however smashing for such a small laptop. we tend to use a try of headphones or external speakers when sound quality is vital. Also, we have not had it that long thus I cannot nevertheless inquire into sturdiness.

Overall, a very nice machine.
